About us

You can enjoy wonderful, home-cooked food in the restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the garden and pool. The hotel’s cuisine gives you a taste of Cretan tradition in every bite. The ingredients used are all local and, in fact, the olive oil, dairy products and meat are our very own! The restaurant’s menu has all the specialties of the Cretan cuisine, including ntakos, snails, staka, goat cheese, cheese and spinach pies as well as a variety of wild greens. Our portions are not your regular ‘restaurant’ portions; our dishes are served by Mrs. Georgia, or Giorgia, filled to the top as she considers her customers guests at her home. A wise choice would be to order some local Cretan wine form our own production or, of course, choose from any beverage our bar has. If your taste runs towards a more international cuisine, you will certainly not be lefty hungry as our menu includes a variety of such dishes.

Full greek

It is a restaurant in a same named hotel. But not only restaurant. This is a taverna!!! Very kindly staff and very good foods. We eat lamb chops and moussaka. Marveolous. The young waitress girl was very freindly and the the traditional gifts the end of the dinner were so good. I offer it everybody. And it is not expensive!! Let’s try it!!

Lovely Food and Service

We went here last night (party of 6, 4 adults and 2 kids). We got a warm welcome and they have a lovely balcony at the back where the restaurant is. They have a good choice of food at reasonable prices. The kids menu is very good - meal, drink and ice cream for 6.50 euro. Food and service were excellent, we will be going back while we are here.

Try mommas menu!

The Albatross is unassuming from the outside, however sometimes the more unassuming establishments hold treasures inside! This is the case for The Albatross. I personally recommend the Cretan salad for starters for a refreshing beginning to a wonderful meal. Where The Albatross comes into its own is with the delicious barbecued meats on mommas menu. They are a true delight of simple dining. One caveat is the portion sizes, which are ginormous and someone with an average appetite will be struggling to finish. This however is not solely an attribute of The Albatross but is prevalent in all Cretan restaurants in general. The flavours though will have you wishing you could finish the food on your plate. To conclude, I heartally recommend The Albatross to any traveller wishing for good, simple Cretan dining.

Do not miss this restaurant !

If you are near Maleme you must visit Albatross restaurant. Mama Georgia makes wonderful and tasty dishes. She only uses local produce and vegetables they grow on their own farm. The portions are very large and enough for two people if you not are very hungry. The best recommendation from me.
