felt bullied and left

we entered the museum where two men at reception immediately said "put a mask on", which we did. Please note one of these men didn’t have his mask on "properly" as it wasn’t covering his nose. I moved into the completely deserted exhibition rooms and pulled the mask down as I have breathing difficulties and assumed ancient Greek statues were safe from Covid-19 infection. The two men at reception surveyed me like hawks, getting progressively agitated lest a Naxian wine jar be infected through its glass case, and asked me eventually to pull up my mask (bearing in mind one of them was still not wearing his properly). I decided to exit the museum as I felt bullied and harassed, one of my nostrils doesn’t work and I have difficulties breathing with a mask on, not that they were interested. won’t go again as they obviously don’t value their customers’ comfort.

Best price in Mykono$

It was free unlike everything else in Mykonos. Cool art installation mixed with ancient statues and other artifacts.

A very quick stop at the museum

This museum is located just above the bus depot in Mykonos. There is a €4 admission charge to enter. At the time of our visit, there was another modern art exhibit where the pieces had been distributed throughout the museum alongside the ancient Greek pieces, a little strange....but a cool thing to do.

Sadly the museum is very very small and you really don’t need more than 30 minutes max to see everything.

By far, the most stunning piece is the mortuary urn which has the story of the Trojan horse carved around it. It is beautiful!

Excellent pieces

After visiting Delos, the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos helps you understand what the island meant. It is not very large but contains an excellent collection of ceramics and funeral steles, as well as an exceptional representation of the Trojan War. Recommendable.

Just OK

Although they have a nice selection of vases - this museum just didn’t grab us. It felt sterile. Some museums ignite one’s curiosity, while others just contain old stuff. Sadly this museum fell into the latter category.

Entry price was 4 Euro.
