Great first experience with ceramics
I had the pleasure having workshops in ceramics and painting my little item.
It was a fun and great experience and I would like to thank the brothers Michalis, Felix and George for pleasant company and very interesting tutoring. You 3 are doing a great job!
Flakatoras Ceramics has a broad selection of items both for decoration and for using for food and drink.
And the brothers are always welcoming you to their cosy shop and workspace.

Fun and educational
This is a family business located in Chania Old Town. We booked a pottery class for my wife and 12 years daughter. What a brilliant idea it was, the highlight of our visit to Chania.
Michalis is such a patient and wonderful teacher with a real passion for his craft. My daughter loved the class so much that she was allowed to make one more pot after her allotted time. At the end of the class Michalis gave us a tour of the factory and explained all the stages of pottery making.
Being a local he is also a great source of information about Chania and Crete that is happy to share.
Their shop is beautiful with a huge variety of pottery items, all made there by hand by the members of the family. We bought several items that we now use every day and wished we could have brought more home.
The booking and communication were quick and easy, they are all very responsive and nice.
I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough and for us is going to be a must do activity when we’re around Chania.

Our purchases are being well used!
Visited this shop and bought 2 lovely tea cups and saucers with paintings of cats on them. Great service from the family and the items were expertly wrapped so that they would not be damaged on the flight back. We will certainly visit again if we go back to Chania!

My three children (7,9,11) loved having pottery lessons here during our tour of Greece. The brothers were all charming
My three children (7,9,11) loved loved loved having pottery lessons here during our tour of Greece. The brothers were all charming. Funny, friendly and passionate about ceramics and their family business started by their parents. Incredible teachers - patient and knowledgeable. They made a selection of bowls, plates and cups on pottery wheel under excellent guidance. They even finished up creating some some cheeky dinosaurs. We’ll be returning next week to paint them into masterpieces. This is a must-do stop if you are in Chania Old Town. Charming & inspirational and you’ll find some lovely authentic local items to take home with you even if you don’t have time for classes. Can I leave 10 stars? (If you are planning on taking classes, plan to visit at the start of your holiday to allow time for firing in the kiln which takes a few days)

One of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had!
We couldn’t be more thankful to have come across this little shop and meet one of the artists- George, I believe was his name! My boyfriend and I came in looking for some authentic Cretan pottery to take back to the United States- we had looked at every little tourist shop along the way and finally came across flakatoras! George was absolutely incredible; he was kind, patient, and so informative!! We ended up spending 2.5 hours at the store looking at every piece and George took it upon himself to give us detailed histories of the types of pottery and it’s uses throughout Greece’s history! He even gave us a full tour of the studio: the kilns, the molds, the stages of pottery, and all of the little details about why the process is done the way it is! Truly one of the most memorable experiences of our travels and we could not be more excited to come back some day (hopefully soon)!!

A pottery workshop with a vision!
I have felt so proud as a Greek traveller to find in Chania this family-run pottery workshop with probably the most beautiful ceramic artefacts I have ever seen. But it is mostly the politeness and gentle energy of the two young brothers and their sister who run the place second generation that has inspired me. Certainly, a must visit (and buy) in Chania. Having met the owners, I can only assure you there is no one bored or rude in this place, the only bad review comes obviously from a disturbed person and I am really happy for the answer this person got from one of the brothers.

Our Olive Oil bottle is in regular use back in London
A wide selection of reasobaly proced ceramics in the centre of Chania - a great place to look for souvenirs. The Olive Oil bottle that I brought home for our kitchen is in regular use back in London. (This is posated long after our visit but prompted by the ’terrible review’ - I can vouch that the owners are very friendly and you can see them at work in the workshop)

Nice choice of pottery - but.....
We entered the store and looked around, but nobody asked us to help. So we made our choice alone and tried to pay. The staff - two men - was extremely bored and rude to us. We left the store shocked and without buying anything.
