Must do!
This was an amazing day on the water! The boat was very big and there were many spots to sit either in the shade, inside the boat, or on the deck! Great cushions to lounge on the deck or netting above the water. Never endings drinks all day! We stopped at 1 location to swim and snorkel and went close by for lunch were we had amazing fresh food! Would definitely suggest this to anyone in Mykonos!

Highlight of our trip to Mykonos
This experience is an absolute must do if you’re in Mykonos. We booked the private catamaran cruise with Captain Michael and spend all day exploring Mykonos, Delos, and some other surrounding islands. Captain Michael and his first mate, Alice, are truly wonderful. So accommodating and knowledgeable. Michael is a truly talented and professional captain, the ride was smooth and he was able to anchor in incredible spots for us to go swimming. Our party was 4 adults (two couples) and we had ample space to be on the boat. There is also a shady area if you aren’t one to spend all day in the direct sunlight like my husband. I also have to mention the food was the best food we had in our 10 day stay in Greece (and mind you, we went to some great places). We joked the rest of the trip that nothing compared to our “boat food”! Truly a wonderful experience - book it!

There is a reason why the reviews are all so good! Don’t pass this one up!
Thank goodness we planned this one early. This is a do not miss trip.
As with all my trips I take months to set up the tour and make 100% sure that I understand costs, arrangements, and what the day will be like. To be honest the day didn’t start off so well. We were one of the first 10 people off the ship that day and went right to the small church we were told to meet at. After an hour of searching this quaint small town I finally had to dig the phone out and try to make a call to find out where the bus was. It turns out an email was sent to me the night before our tour telling us we would need to walk to the Yacht pier and not the small church as the bus can’t get to the small church. Unfortunately while cruising I can’t get emails and so we never got that communication in time. This was my fault however we held up a van full of people excited about their day. My recommendation would be to drop any communication about meeting at the church and have all tours meet at the Yacht pier. Instead of being early and ahead of the game, we were behind and caused others to be as well. Pretty embarrassing and frustrating for sure.
Once we got past that mess we were driven to a smaller port where the smaller boats are anchored. We got on a small inflatiable - 5 adults in our group and drove out to the catamaran where our first mate was getting the boat ready for the day. Once on board it seemed like all our troubles went away. This was a beautiful boat with more than enough room for our group. While we enjoy the company of others, this private day made us feel so relaxed and like we owned our own catamaran. Pretty special.
We quickly got underway with the sails coming out once we were out of the harbor. My wife hates small boats and gets very sea sick. That is one factor we were concerned about with booking this trip. Not once did she even feel sea sick at all! Yes we bounced around on some waves but nothing that made any of us feel ill - in fact it was more calming and fun to sit on the front of the boat and bobbing over the waves. We’re we really doing this? In Greece on our own catamaran for the day? The captain and his mate - of course I forgot their names - were fabulous. Anything they could do for us they did. Every question we asked was answered with a smile and a good answer. We learned a lot about the area along with where things were kept on board. We had a full cooler of soft drinks, beers, wine and water. We needed nothing - just to enjoy the day.
The weather was perfect - hot and not a cloud in the sky. A dream come true for sure. We sailed over to the ancient port of Delos. It was amazing to pull into this small area and think people did this thousands of years ago. Here we were. On top of that our arrangement didn’t say we would stop but we did. Our captain turned that catamaran and dropped us right on the concrete dock amoung all the other boats. Still don’t know how he did it but we were left there to explore and what a place it was. We didn’t realize the amazing things that were among the ruins but it was amazing. Something we won’t forget. A phone call to our captain and he was back to pick us up using the inflatable he had.
The rest of our trip was spend around the island of Delos, floating and swimming in this beautiful area. We moved away from the crowded port and found a cove where the captain moved us right near the shallower areas. We got to jump off the catamaran right into the cool water in crystal clear waters. We really needed to cool off and again this was like a dream. A half hour or so later we were called to have lunch.
The only way I can really explain this was that everyone in our group of 5 adults said this was the best lunches they have ever had and one of the top dinner ever! How they cooked this stuff in such a small kitchen on a boat bobbing around the ocean is amazing to me. The lunch alone was worth the trip! Not a couple items - but 7 different things to eat. A huge bowl of hot pasta with sauce, huge prawns, calamari, bread, a warmed feta cheese, zucchinni, and a Greek salad my wife and the other girls can’t stop talking about. In fact when we got home they all tried to make their version of this, they enjoyed it so much. We drank wine and were served like we owned the boat - we felt so special - it is nothing we will ever forget. I could go on and on about lunch!
After lunch we went to the front of the boat and just laid on the netting which overhangs the water. A cool breeze soothed the heat of the sun. My son and I grabbed some snorkels and masks and explored the cove we were in. We sailed over to another cover where the owner of the company, Michael was hosting another catamaran full of people. It was only our two catamarans which made for some fantastic pictures.
Our captain kept a close eye on our time so we didn’t not miss our ships departure. He decided to take us back to the port where our ship was and we had an amazing sailing back to this area. More open seas made for a fun ride back - splashing in the waves as the catamaran bobbed along the way. I checked with my wife numerous times to make sure she wasn’t getting sick. She never felt ill at all along this sail back which took about an hour. It was amazing to see the port on the horizon with all the large ships docked there and our catamaran sailing closer and closer. I really hated to see us get closer as it meant that our day was coming to an end.
It took a little bit to get the catamaran docked but on shore were people from the company there to help us dock and make sure the van was there to take us back to the Yacht pier. Our captain kept apologizing for the delay - little did he know we never wanted to get there in the first place! We would love to still be living our catamaran dream - but maybe it’s better left that hopefully someday we can do this again. This isn’t a cheap tour but considering everything we did, the experience of being on our own catamaran, and having a captain and first mate to ourselves - it was a small price to pay. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. If you want a special, special experience this is something you must do. You will not be disappointed. I’ve been on my cruise tours but this one sets the standard for the best - it’s going to take a lot to knock this one off!
