Great food, excellent service

We ate on the terrace, which was located on the seafront. We liked the food very much (we had shrimp (garides) saganaki, grilled octopus, grilled sea bass, tsatsiki). The waiter was very prompt and extremely helpful, he also recommended us a very nice beach nearby. I highly recommend it and we would love to go back again!

Excellent meals every time

We stayed in Itea for just over a week and so we tried most places to eat. We returned here a number of times because all of the dishes were consistently excellent. I am a big fish fan, which was always fresh and perfectly cooked. We also tried chicken, lamb, Bolognese and every time the meals were of generous portions and of a very high standard. It is surprising to have such variety in one place that does everything so well. Most importantly, the service and hospitality was faultless. Illias (I might have spelt this wrong) usually served us. He remembers our petty foibles, like no oil on salad. He was friendly, warm and professional throughout. There are also beautiful views. I would recommend this place to couples , families and to larger groups as there is bound to be something to please everyone.

Amazing Fresh Seafood!

I’ve never been in such a hurry to write a review. We stayed in Delphi but went for dinner sight unseen and not researched into Itea. Picked the restaurant at random after being told they had fresh fish. Place was empty aside from a young Greek couple. Lovely location right at the beach. Within moments a large group of obvious local men entered, among them clearly an important distinguished Police officer. They were seated by again obviously the owner of the restaurant. Jackpot! We said to ourselves. Minutes later as the waiter hurried off with our drink order, the owner welcomed his wife, son and his in-laws. Can’t get better then this, right? It did! Local white wine was subtle and delicious, the olives from the surrounding fields so pungent my wife of Italian heritage, swore quietly and proclaimed she could skip dinner, just give her some bread. The bread, local, warm still, appeared as if on command. Seconds later the calamari arrived...and instantly we were transported to a level of freshness and delicacy that is an art form when it comes to this finicky dish, so easy to screw up, seconds away from being rubbery if not timed properly. It was pure buttery, melt in your mouth, essence of the sea gods, light and airy, sprinkled with fresh, again local lemons, we became very quiet, only exchanging wide eyed looks and subtle moans. Our waiter, came for the empty dish and as we tried to express our delight, held up his hand and simply said; Wait for the fish. We took this advice very seriously and I said to Ginna, OMG Ive never been so excited about food! They gave us maybe 10 minutes to savor the calamari and sip the wine. Then the coup de grace sailed in. The whole fish grilled on coals as they say, very simply presented with lemons and a gravy boat of local olive oil mixed with butter, looked pleased to have recently left its watery habitat to share its delicousness with us. No, we didn’t ask what kind of fish it was, it seemed inappropriate somehow. What it was, was beyond amazing as only the freshest and most beautifully prepared food can be. I still can’t believe we ate the whole thing! Subtle, slightly buttery, moist, mouth watering, skin delicately charred somewhat, adding layers of flavor, I do not exaggerate, it brought tears of joy to my eyes! Fresh, yes local Apple slices, sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzled with, yes local honey, completed this freshness extravaganza. I thought words would fail me but I managed to compose myself, shook hands with the head waiter and we rushed to our hotel 15 minutes away on the mountain, so that I could write this with the flavors still on my pallet and dreams of Greek home based cooking fresh in my mind. Just to clarify, we hail from a place on Pacific Ocean, were both raised by the sea and are far from strangers to excellent seafood we both love beyond measure. Maybe it was the right time and place but surely not a coincidence. Nothing beats fresh and sometimes simple trumps all. We bow deeply to the chef and staff of Scala, may you reign long and proud. Poseidon would smile and approve wholeheartedly! Jake&Ginna Vancouver, Canada

Best seafood

I was on a Gate 1 tour of Greece and we stopped for lunch near this restaurant. Great choice. We had a plate of calamari and a fried seafood platter and both were prepared outstandingly. The calamari was well prepared and extremely tender. The portion was ample. cost for lunch was probably in the 25 euro area. Their is a sitting area across from the restaurant that is right on the water. Service was great. We were a group of about 40 and they handled us magnificently. Good food, scenic, and reasonable in price. Thanks for a great meal.
