Rocambolesco, Piraeus

Smiles and hospitality that are followed by amazing plates! The omelette tortilla and the scrambled eggs were excellent!

What a gem, stumbled on this place on my stroll from one marina to another admiring the yachts. I have a sweet tooth and as soon as I saw Rocambolesco I knew it obviously was going to cater for that. As well as having a savoury menu too. The atmosphere appeared more relaxed and welcoming than some of the other bars/cafe that had louder music (and so many young people stuck to their phones). But what convinced me to stay that little bit longer was the incredibly sweet and helpful manager, who spoke English and French fluently and kept me a little company between my 2 courses. I started with the goat cheese Peach salad. Really lovely. Manager added some bread as I requested. I hesitated between many of the desserts as the banoffee desserts looked divine and was stunningly presented in a glass jar, but he strongly encouraged me to sample the ice creams first. I got to taste maybe 10 before making a choice. All superb, some were exquisite and unusual, Greek flavours you do not find in London for sure. I opted for 2 scoops with added homemade whipped cream on top, which was absolutely superb. I know a good chantilly when I taste one. Gelato at its finest, any Italians would be proud of. The pistachio gelato tasted how it should. My only regret, not having been able to say goodbye and a final thank you to the manager who looked after me. So a big thank you and you were right, the ice cream option was fabulous. Had I stayed another day I would have gone back to try that banoffee or the salted caramel ice cream again! Thank you! Appropriate decoration, chilling atmosphere and welcoming service. we tried waffle with ice cream, fruits and Nutella and the “banoffee”. Both were excellent !

When I was walking outside of this restaurant, I did not even want to eat ice cream. As soon as tho I saw the inside and saw the people working there I immediately went inside. The place is so OCD satisfying (for the people that understand and are looking for places like this). The guys are serving ice cream while wearing black gloves and an amazing uniform. The staff is very polite and friendly!!! Now the ice cream... Very very good. Probably one of the best ice cream you can get in Athens.
