Sagittarius Restaurant & Apartments

We have just returned (3rd July 21), from staying 2 weeks at these apartments, even in this crazy time we live in, we were determined to return to our beloved Tingaki we have been going there for 23 years. This was our 1st time staying at "Saggis" as us Tingaki veterans call it. We were not disappointed and have booked to return next year, lets hope its easier to get back into the UK than this year!!!!!. Getting into Kos was easy well managed and controlled. Taxi from the airport to Sagittarius was between 27e - 30e, there is a taxi rank as you leave the newly built airport, taxi’s are plentiful. This restaurant together with 5 apartments above is situated at the top of the main street, which is the main road that is Tingaki. They are family run by the lovely Manni (apologies if the spelling is wrong) and his lovely wife Donna, one of their sons being the fab waiter. We were warmly welcomed and helped up to our apartments, you need to be able to do stairs. We ate in the restaurant several times the food is freshly cooked by Donna, a lot of the ingredients come from their gardens. We had a two bed apartment and although our friends had the 1 bed we liked the extra space, the one bed is same layout with huge bedroom, we just had 2 bedrooms a double and a twin, the 1 bed having a double bed, rare in Kos but much appreciated as no gap in the middle!!! The bedrooms had plenty of storage space for clothes, bedside tables and a dressing table with a lit mirror, fab for hair and make up!!! There was also a safe in the wardrobe (included in apartment price), there was air conditioning available in both bedrooms which was an optional extra, but then all the apartments in Greece that have air conditioning are payable as an addition if you want the A/C, it was boiling as we had a heatwave, daytime temperatures some days reached 40 deg, some evenings it didn't drop below 31, we had the A/C. But the patio doors in the bedroom leading out to the furnished balcony had bug screen that you could pull across if you wanted to just leave your door open, all the windows had them as well minimizing the dreaded Mozzies. The apartments were spotlessly clean, we had plenty of towel and bedding changes and the lovely Karen came in every day,. The bathroom had a full bath with shower over, a lit mirror and a hairdryer with cupboards for your toiletries and a charging point for electric razor or toothbrush. The kitchen dinning area being open plan was well equipped, full fridge freezer, baby belling cooker (not that we used it, but ...) The usual kettle toaster and array of crockery and cutlery, if you had wanted to self cater you could. We made tea and coffee and toast!!!. There is a welcome pack of milk, bread, sachets of tea coffee and sugar, and pats of jam, marmalade and butter. Fresh orange juice and also bottled water, a basket of fruit on the dinning table , more than enough for a late arrival until you could get supplies. There is also a laundry room with a washing machine that guest can use, each apartment balcony has a clothes dryer with pegs provided. Out of the apartments turn right, there is a couple who run a fresh fruit and veg booth with honey and olive oil, literally next door. Keep walking across the road and a few yards up the main well stocked supermarket Constantinos whereby you will find a fresh bakery and everything you need.. Go out of the apartments turn left down the main street to the beach, their are many restaurants, gift shops, apartments, hotels, bars, car hire, bicycle hire quad bike hire and a couple of excursion places as you walk down the street, I'm not very good at judging distance but its probably a ten to 15 minute walk, but its on the flat. Sunbeds on the amazing safe sandy Tigaki beach can be free if you eat in the attached restaurants, if not two sunbeds and a brolly range from e6 to e8 . The resort like the whole Island is quiet. They are desperate for the English to come, at no time did we feel unsafe, we felt safer in Kos than we do at home. They have stringent weekly testing of all restaurant and bar staff, the Islanders have been under curfews and restrictions all winter, we heard of no covid cases whilst we were there. Whilst "Saggis" does not have a pool, there are many about and all are welcome to use their pools, just buy a drink at the pool bar out of respect. We were sad to leave the apartments and also the resort and Island of Kos, we didn't have a bad meal or drink, which has always been the case, the people are so friendly, and over the years we have made many friends with the staff that remember the guests that return, regardless of where they are staying. Easily one of the nicest restaurants on the island, great food and at great prices. This family run business shows how it should be done. All the food is fresh and tasty, and the staff are very friendly. Authentic Greek cuisine at it’s finest. What more do you need.

We have stayed half board in other hotels and found it very sterile, as you start to feel.a bit trapped. These apartments offer you a home from home and an important ingredient to a good holiday; space. The apartments are well equipped and you find some welcome food when you arrive, fruit, tea, coffee and bread which is a really nice touch. It does get hot so I would recommend paying for the air conditioning as it will help you sleep. The balconies have lovely views and you hear the restaurant getting ready from about 5.30pm and it is great to live above this excellent restaurant. If you do stay here, do dine here every now and then. It is separate but when it offers such fine Greek cuisine which is excellent value, you would be daft not to! The housekeeping member of staff is excellent as she does a thorough job of cleaning the apartments and had a sunny disposition when she sees you. The beds are comfortable and there is good equipment if you want to dine in. We tend to go out as the food in Tigaki is really good value for money and we recommend Sagitarius, Icarus and Asian Wok. We have already booked a return visit for next Summer as these apartments have become a home from home. …

We visited the Sagittarius restaurant last night with our 15 year old daughter. From the minute we walked in, we were made to feel very welcome, with the waiter telling us we could sit where we wanted, then swiftly brought the WiFi code for our teenage daughter without us asking for it! #teensabroadprobs For starters we had garlic bread and mushrooms ala creme, both were delicious.... so much so, I think my hubby wanted to lick the plate ???? For mains we had lamb chops, chicken a la creme and swordfish which my daughter described as “ happiness on a plate! “ All mains were served with rice,chips or roast potatoes with vegetables. We would definitely recommend the roast potatoes & rice. We didn’t order dessert as we were all really full. When we asked for the bill, they brought it along with some shots of peach schnapps. Great, friendly service and outstanding food. Thank you team Sagittarius, we will be back ???? …

Eaten here three times in a week , Greek salad, lamb chops , swordfish, ice cream , GB with cheese all very nice . Lovely guys serving, they also have apartments above too which we didn’t see but were full
