About us

Taverna Akrotiri is a small family owned meat and vegetable taverna. It opens every May till October since 1983. It is run entirely by 4 people; Petros, Danae, Caterina and Amanda Costi. It is located in a beautiful garden 3 km from Zakinthos Town.

Wonderful place, great food

We really enjoyed this place, beautiful garden, wonderful & very attractive staff (we love these professional woman), even after 1 year and 1 visit they remembered us and our granddaughters, very warm and welcoming. The food is excellent, great appetizers, my favourite okra, juicy lamb and porc from the grill, delicious drink after the meal, we will come back here, great place for a wonderful diner.

Amazing - possibly the best restaurant on the island

This is the sort of gem you hope you’ll find on holiday but seldom do. A local recommend the place and we’ve been back every night since. They bring around a sort of tapas tray and everything on it is simply delicious. We will probably get through every dish before the end of our trip. Certainly one of the best restaurants on the island and the atmosphere is great too.

Beautiful outdoor space

All the food we had at the taverna was delicious, with the ability to choose your appetizers immediately from the tray they pass around. The slow-cooked lamb we had was also delicious. The terrace was absolutely beautiful, with vines of grape all around you. Highly recommend!

What a gorgeous, friendly place!

Katherina rescued us on day 1 when we had just arrived and we’re completely lost, hungry and tired. We happened upon the Taverna when it was closed. Katerina gave the 6 of us iced water in 35 degrees,sorted us out with a taxi and was so friendly and welcoming. Lucky us, as not only did we have 3 wonderful meals full of delicious food, excellent service and the friendliest welcome we’ve ever had, but she also acted as our Zante tourist information centre, sending us to the nearby car hire, sorting out taxis for us and recommending other fabulous restaurants nearby. Thank you thank you thank you to Katerina, her sister and her amazing team at the Taverna Akrotiri. You literally made our holiday!!

Stunning atmosphere

Taverna Akrotiri is a restaurant with an extremely cozy outdoor atmosphere and a fantastic service both from the two sisters and the rest of the amazing staff! The food is authentic Greek and the total experience is so good that we had to come back twice in six days!

Go go go

Amazing experience. The true identity of Greek hospitality is encountered in this restaurant. Authentic Greek tastes in a traditional family tavern. I am not going to describe the flavours, which all were impeccable, because the most gracious factor that inluenced my five star rating is the politeness of the staff.

Fantastic

The best taverna we have visited by far. Food was amazing, very nice way to serve appetizers and an excellent service too (they speak italian!!)
