About us

Trata is the fishermen’s restaurant in the picturesque village of Ormos Marathokampos in the southwestern part of Samos. Ideally situated, between the two harbors of the village, with a spatious yard in front of the little beach of Ormos, find yourselves a table under the pleasant and refreshing shade of the trees and enjoy hearty and delicious lunch or dinner. In our ouzeri we offer traditional island delicacies for your ouzo or wine. With our fourth generation experience in fishing, we serve the finest fish and seafoood you could find. We strongly believe that nature offers the best materials and we always try to make use of it at the highest possible point avoiding food waste. In our place, you will find a wide variety of fish and seafood to choose from -most of them caught by us and local fishermen- after they are displayed and explained to you from our staff.

A must in Samos

Great food in nice surroundings

After eating in the not so charming town of Votsalakia for a couple of days we decided to go somewhere else the last part of our vacation. The little fishing village of Ormos was the closest and we came by Trata restaurant who looked nice and was right next to the harbor. It’s typically Greek taverna style with basic tables and chairs placed on cobble stone under large trees only a few meters to the sea. Quite idyllic setting. The restaurant has 3-4 specials every day together with the menu. But we went for the specials the three days we dined here. And it was just perfect every day. Simple but very tasty and you could feel that it was fresh, local and homemade. Even the locals ate here so that tells you that this was good quality.

Best seafood in the area!

We eat here a few times and the place and the view to the harbor can only be recommended. fresh fish and fantastic salad !! It was quite crowded when we arrived at 20 but they were nice to set a table up for us and it helps a bit when my wife is Greek;) we will be back soon :)

One of my favourite spots in Ormos

Trata offers a very good menu that is well complemented by the daily specials, which are of consistently high quality and go beyond the traditional fare you would find in any given taverna. The large trees also make for a good place to relax, take it easy and enjoy the shade during the hotter hours of the day, and there is a beach only a few steps away.

The best!

We tried most of the other restaurants there, but kept coming back here. Good service, scenic setting, fair price, and above all: excellent dishes with some really positive surprises like the marinated sardines and the bonito. I wished we were there right now!
